WITH LOVE - Meditation of Roses Interactive Performance, 2022 Created for PICTUREBERLIN Residency, September 2022. On July 6, 2022, my family and I grieved the devastating loss of my khala (aunt), who died from multiple gunshot wounds inflicted earlier that day by her ex-husband. This project channels that profound grief into an act of remembrance. As I folded origami roses, I invited my audience into my khala’s story—sharing memories of her life and spirit. The round table’s closeness fostered an atmosphere of deep intimacy, where others began to open up about their own experiences with grief and loss. Together, we honored the relationships in our lives that have offered us care, warmth, and enduring connection.

The performance ran throughout the exhibition where we collectively created over a hundred origami roses.
